The designer
"I used to wear no jewellery, until I designed exactly what I wanted to wear, in pure chainmail".
From her initial architectural practice, Pascale Lion retained a passionate interest in materials and their structure. Her aesthetic is made up of rigour and minimalism; proportions, rhythms and colourful harmonies.
It was while working on spatial projects, over 25 years ago, that she came across metal mesh and began to use it in interior design.
Since then, she never ceased to explore stainless steel weave and other metal wire structures, diverting them from their industrial applications. In the early 2000s, she developed a collection of objects, then went on to collaborate with metal-weaving artists to create unique works. She works with industries, creating interior design products and consulting as artistic director. With her extensive experience and sensitivity to materials, she has been designing jewellery since 2008.
Pascale Lion now devotes most of her time to chainmail design and to her teaching at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
